Daughter, sister, friend with her whole life ahead of her, Jennifer Hill was just a young 20-something struggling to make ends meet while working a part time job and pursuing a graduate degree when she was diagnosed with brain cancer. Jen's brother and a group of his college graduates organized the first Climb Against Cancer 27 years ago to help defray Jen’s mounting medical costs. As a third generation native of the Mount Washington Valley, Jen's friends and neighbors rallied around her making the event a huge success. Unfortunately Jen lost her battle soon afterwards, but her legacy lives on in this wonderful community that continues to help cancer patients in the Mount Washington Valley in her name.
To date, almost $4,500,000 has been raised and used to defray the non-medical expenses of more than 400 local cancer patients. Currently Jen’s Friends is assisting over 90 cancer patients at a cost of more than $40,000 per month.
The need is now greater than ever with the rising costs of fuel, electricity, and food. Please help us help them by joining our cause and raising funds for this fun filled family-oriented event.
Jen’s Friends is a 100% all volunteer organization and 100% of funds raised go directly to assist local cancer patients. We can’t do it without you because “In the fight against cancer, you can never have too many friends. Thank you for being Jen’s Friend!”
Smiles and laughs - That's what we love to see. Everyone having a good time while helping others .
A team effort - Make it a fun day and create a team. What better way to spend the day with those you love than supporting others
The funds raised through the Climb Against Cancer go directly to your friends and neighbors in need in the Mount Washington Valley, of eastern New Hampshire and Western Maine who are battling cancer. Jen’s Friends is currently assisting 90+ patients at a cost of over $40,000 per month – and growing!
Cancer doesn’t stop and neither can we!
Our assistance covers everyday expenses such as groceries, transportation and gas, utilities, rent or mortgage payments and other non-medical expenses to relieve some of the financial stress so they can concentrate on healing.
The Climb Against Cancer is our largest fundraiser and we can’t do it without YOU! Every single dollar raised goes directly to a patient and family battling cancer.
Our friends and neighbors with cancer need YOUR help to get through this. Together we CAN make a difference!
Raised here – stays here!
PLEASE NOTE:
Please leave your dogs at home. Dogs are not allowed on the Cranmore property.
Getting Started
Memory Wall
Honor your loved one with a memory marker on our digital memory wall!
Memory markers are small signs honoring loved ones taken by cancer. They are normally staked along the hiking route of the Climb Against Cancer at Cranmore Mountain on the day of the event. As hikers pass them, they are reminded why they are climbing and inspired to reach the summit. This year we will have markers on the hill AND online so that your markers will be displayed in two ways for all participants to see.
